2012 Tour of Beijing Day 2

Tony Martin at full steam

When I saw Tony Martin steaming towards me I decided to up my shutter speed to 1/1500 second. Good thing, he meant business in the closing kilometers.

Today’s course was stunning, a gorgeous climb through a quiet forest on silky smooth pavement. I would have much rather been on my bike than on a moto. Fall colors are going off and the air was again crystal clear, we are having good luck here in Beijing.

Better crowds turned up once outside Beijing city, even the smallest villages had curious onlookers.

Everyone was shocked at the speeds today, mach fast. When Tony Martin got away we were just behind him and it was truly a stunning show of power and brilliant riding. We had to peg the moto just to get by and then peg it some more to stay ahead. Further down the down road we stopped where the header image was made and only had about 20 seconds until he was upon us. Impressive.

Tomorrow we finish at the Great Wall of China – excited!
