The first magazine I ever worked with as a photographer, Rock & Ice back in 1997, has finally featured one of our images on the cover of the January 2013 issue. Because of my long history with the sport of climbing, and this magazine, I am pretty thrilled. Better yet, it is from the Dolomites, which ironically coincides with our release of a fully re-designed DolomiteSport site. Our mountain sport resource for all sports in the Dolomites, including full photo galleries and information pages. The Rock & Ice feature calls the Dolomites “The World’s Best Multi-Pitch Destination”, I call it world’s best for many things, and we show why.
To see how the Rock & Ice cover was made, we mounted a video camera on my camera as I hung 300+ meters off the ground on the overhanging wall at Tre Cime di Lavaredo. We posted the video back when we did the shoot, you can see it here.
